Sirat Project was founded in order to assist incarcerated Muslims and those interested in Islam by providing them with educational materials, a support system, and tools for rehabilitation.

Empowering the incarcerated through Islamic teachings
The Ṣirāṭ Project empowers the incarcerated through Islamic teachings. We provide spiritual, emotional, and educational support to aid in personal growth and rehabilitation under the guidance of scholars.
Vision
We envision a world where every human being has the opportunity and resources needed to seek truth. With this support, inmates can realign their lives toward spiritual and moral growth. We strive to bring guidance and compassion in accordance with our duties outlined in the Noble Qurʾān and the Sunnah of the Ahlul Bayt (ʿa).

The Ṣirāṭ Project is dedicated to empowering incarcerated Muslims by providing spiritual, emotional, and educational support rooted in Islamic teachings. Guided by Islamic scholars, we strive to foster personal growth and rehabilitation among those we serve. Our vision is a world where every person has access to the truth and resources necessary for spiritual and moral realignment, allowing them to transform their lives. Established through a legacy that began with the SABA Prison Project in the 1990s, we’ve evolved under the Al-Kisa Foundation to expand our offerings. From the Ṣirāṭ Link magazine and specialized Islamic resources to consistent mentorship and guidance, our programs are designed to uphold our duties as outlined in the Noble Qurʾān and the Sunnah of the Ahlul Bayt (ʿa). Today, the Ṣirāṭ Project remains committed to providing compassion, understanding, and unwavering support to incarcerated Muslims on their journey towards positive change.
History
From SABA Prison Project to Ṣirāṭ Project
1990s
The SABA Prison Project was founded to connect incarcerated Muslims with the Bay Area Muslim community.
2016 – 2019
In 2016, the project came under the Al-Kisa Foundation’s umbrella upon its formation. In 2019, Al-Kisa merged its efforts with another initiative, 2nd Chance Books — expanding services beyond correspondence and curriculum to include Ṣirāṭ Link magazine, occasion cards, calendars, and more.
2024 – today
2nd Chance Books returned to its original form, and Al-Kisa Foundation launched the Ṣirāṭ Project to continue providing support and resources to incarcerated Muslims.
Ṣirāṭ Link
Our quarterly magazine designed and printed in-house specially for incarcerated Muslims.
The title “Ṣirāṭ Link” is inspired by the Arabic term “Ṣirāṭ al-Mustaqīm,” which means the right path. It features articles, poetry, puzzles, and a space to write questions to our Islamic scholars.
We pray that this magazine will be a means of guidance to the right path and facilitate a connection to Allah (swt), oneself, and the broader community. InshāʾAllāh it can serve as an opportunity for growing one’s faith through education.
